The display of architectural drawings by artists Ghazanfar Iqbal and Ozair bin Mansoor in the exhibition titled Telling Structures generated an interesting conversation. Both artists focused on storytelling in their work, but their individual narratives differed widely in style and substance. Ghazanfar Iqbal’s work expressed an old world feel with a romanticized tinge to the subject of buildings and inhabitants. Ozair bin Mansoor on the other hand, showed a very contemporary vision on the subject of architecture and its placement within the urban fabric. Some critical questions were raised in the viewer’s mind regarding what is ‘old’ versus what is ‘decay’.
