The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has addressed recent misunderstandings regarding its art competition for the upcoming series of currency notes.

Launched in January 2024, the initiative aimed to promote local artistry and involve the community in the design process, reflecting international best practices.

On September 5, 2024, the SBP announced the results of the competition. However, some media outlets and members of the public mistakenly interpreted these results as the shortlisted designs for the new banknotes.

The SBP clarified that the competition’s primary purpose was to recognize and reward the artistic contributions of participants, rather than to finalize any designs for the new currency notes.
