The Lahore Biennale Foundation has announced British-Pakistani curator and writer Nav Haq as the curator for its fourth edition, LB04, set to open in early 2027. The Biennale will coincide with the 80th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence and the Partition, marking a historically significant moment for the region.
Currently Associate Director at the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA), Haq brings extensive international curatorial experience. His practice, shaped by themes of coexistence, “monoculture,” and institutional critique, aligns with the Biennale’s evolving intellectual scope.
LB04 will focus on “cultural internationalism,” exploring how art can foster dialogue and solidarity across borders in an increasingly multipolar world. The edition will feature new commissions and large-scale installations across Lahore’s civic and heritage sites, positioning the city as a dynamic cultural node connecting local narratives with broader Eurasian contexts.
Haq expressed his appreciation for the appointment, describing Lahore as a historically resonant and culturally vibrant metropolis. Qudsia Rahim, Executive Director of the Foundation, noted that his global perspective and regional sensitivity will shape a rigorous and thoughtful direction for the Biennale.
Building on themes from previous editions, LB04 aims to further activate Lahore’s public and architectural spaces while reflecting on shared histories and future cultural trajectories.
