The 48th International Theatre Festival, titled Nascondi (no) (Hide-and-Seek) and directed by Antonio Latella, comes to an end on Friday 25 September. This year the Biennale Teatro was dedicated to the theme of censorship and presented 28 projects and 40 performances, all of them as world premieres, produced by Italian playwrights and companies.

The Award Ceremony took place on 14 September in the Arena at the Giardini della Biennale: sound designer Franco Visioli received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement; director and choreographer Alessio Maria Romano received the Silver Lion.

On Friday 25 September an International Jury assigned the award to the best production presented in this year’s edition: Glory Wall by Leonardo Manzan won the Plaque for the best show of the 48th International Theatre Festival.

The International Jury is composed of four theatre experts: Maggie Rose of Plays International; Susanne Burkhardt of Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Evelyn Coussens of De Morgen, and Justo Barranco of La Vanguardia.

A Special Mention was also awarded by the Jury to La tragedia è finita, Platonov, a rewriting from Anton Chekhov’s play directed by Liv Ferracchiati.
