On 8th March, Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) awarded Ali Reza Dossal the first Yasmeen Lari Award for his project titled “Treehouse.”
The Yasmeen Lari award was established by the PCATP to honor its founder chairperson, Yasmeen Lari, the first female architect of Pakistan. Lari has built several landmarks buildings in Pakistan including the Finance &Trade Center (FTC) building, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) House and ABN AMRO Bank in Karachi. She retired from her architectural practice in 2000 and is currently serving as a UNESCO consultant.
Applications for the award were started in September 2018 and were open to architects and planners under the age of 50. The winner received a price of Rs. 250,000.
The jury for this competition comprised of architects and town planners including Ejaz Ahed, Murad Jamil, Sajjad Kausar, Imrana Tiwana and Maqsood Jaffri. Chairman PCATP Asad I.A. Khan served as the advisor.
The ceremony was held in Ramada Creek in Karachi. Dossal was one of the four shortlisted nominees which amongst Fawad Sohail Abbasi, Mubeen Ahmed and Hassan Raza.
