Architect Fawad Suhail Abbasi was invited as a Speaker by JIA, Japanese Institute of Architects at ACA-18 Asian Congress of Architects on Design Talk. The theme was my “Favourite City” and was on the eve of 11 September 2018 at the National Art Center Tokyo, a beautiful Building by the famous Japanese Architect Kisho Kurikawa while ACA-18 was scheduled from 10-14 September 2018.
Fawad spoke about Islamabad as his Favorite City which was the theme of the talk and the contribution of his firm Suhail & Fawad Architects to the built environment and the city at large. He discussed the concept behind the Doxiadis masterplan and shared some of his selected projects across the capital.
He spoke about his mentor & teacher, his father eminent architect Suhail A. Abbasi who was part of the audience and has trained him and numerous other architects and students in his 50 years of professional practice.
He emphasized that it is very important to recognize & honor piers in the growth of any profession and the society at large. He felt proud to represent Pakistan and IAP.
It was an honor to see him share the stage with iconic architects Toyo Ito and Kazuyo Sejima. The Keynote Speakers at ACA included Fumihiko Maki, Yasmin Lari to name a few.
Close to 80 Pakistani Architects and students attended this mega event and was chaired by President ARCASIA Ar. Jahangir Khan Sherpao.
ARCASIA comprises of 21 Asian Countries.
Fawad is an award winning architect and currently Vice President IAP, Institute of Architects Pakistan. He also has the honor of being the First Chairman of ACYA, ARCASIA Committee on Young Architects (2015-2016) and Regional Representative of Region IV, Young Architects Work Program UIA, International Union of Architects (2016-2017).
